Directions:
From I-25, take exit 143 (Uintah) and proceed east one block to Glen St. Turn left and the 7-11 is on the corner of Glen and Uintah. From US 24 East or West, get on I-25 North and follow above directions. |
Event info:
The Volksmarch box is located in the office on shelf behind cashier. Ask cashier for walk box. At the start/finish, you will pick up a map with driving directions to get to the walk trailhead (approximately one mile DO NOT PARK at the 7-11). RV parking is available on side streets near the trailhead. Rated 1A, the trail is on city streets and sidewalks. The 10Km walk passes the U.S. Olympic Training Center, which includes the original barracks of Ent Air Force Base where the athletes are housed. Other historic landmarks including: Palmer High School that was built by the WPA under FDR in 1940, Grace and St. Stephens Church (1895), the Fanny Mae Duncan home built to House entertainers such as Duke Ellington and Etta James who would perform at her Cotton Club, the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center among others. The 6K walks on beautiful Colorado College campus on lovely established areas of Colorado Springs to the US Olympic & Paralympic Museum (new in 2021). Strollers can complete the course. Wheelchairs are not recommended. Leashed pets only on trail. Restrooms are available at the start/finish. Altitude: 6012 ft. County: El Paso. |
