Directions:
From I-25 take Exit 153 (Interquest Parkway) east for 2.2 miles which becomes State Highway 83 at Powers Boulevard. Continue on Highway 83 for 0.85 miles to Shoup road. Turn right and drive 6.5 miles on Shoup Rd to Vollmer Rd. Turn left on Vollmer Rd for 0.60 miles north to the entrance to The Pineries Open Space on the right. Alternate: Go East on Woodman Road from State Highway 21 (Powers Blvd) for 0.20 miles and turn left (north) on Black Forest Rd. Turn Right onto Vollmer Rd and drive north for 6.15 miles to the entrance to The Pineries Open Space on the right. |
Event info:
The trail is multi-use, so equestrians, runners, and cyclists may be encountered. The entire trail is a 14 km loop through public and private land. Start elevation is 7610 ft with a maximum elevation gain of 547 ft. The trail crosses private land and walkers must stay on the trail. There are security cameras on the private land. A large amount of space was burned in a 2013 forest fire. Stay on the trail to let the land continue its recovery. Trail will be opened on May 25 with a Fellowship Walk; all other registration is through Falcon Wanderers Remote Registration process. |
